Article by Phoenix writer Cassandra Odudukudu ’24:

On Friday, October 7th,The Kellenberg community came together to pray the rosary at the Rosary Prayer Service.

The month of October is dedicated to the celebration of Our Lady of the Rosary and the Right to Life. In honor of this, students and faculty came together to take part in a Kellenberg tradition.

In contrast to the usual Mass setup, most students were in the auditorium while some remained in their homerooms. Despite location, all students and faculty members had the opportunity to watch and participate in the same processions.

Mrs. Mulligan 96’ shared, “Praying the rosary as a school community has always been one of my most cherished experiences at Kellenberg, one as a student and now as a member of the teaching staff. It reminds us that we all should have grateful hearts because Mary, our mother, guides us each day.”

During the prayer service, members from each division recited the mysteries of the rosary; starting with the cadets of the Latin school and ending with the seniors of the high school. Between each rosary decade, members of the Marianists Life Team took turns reading meditations, followed by the Gregorian Consortium performing songs and hymns.

After the service, the students enjoyed a communal breakfast. Each member
of their designated homeroom brought a contributing dish, varying from bagels to juice boxes. Senior Symone Smith shared, “I really enjoyed the breakfast, someone in my home room brought muffins!”

As a Marianist school, Kellenberg has a special devotion to the Mother Mary, for which the rosary is a perfect reflection of our devotion. The Rosary Prayer Service encourages students and family alike to incorporate praying the rosary into their daily lives, further strengthening their relationship with Mary.
