Article by Phoenix writer Nicholas Cortese ’23:

On Monday, January 30, the girls bowling team matched up with Our Lady of Mercy.

Kellenberg entered Garden City Lanes with a 5-3 record and the desire to build momentum going into playoffs. The OLMA girls tried to break Kellenberg’s stride, but the Firebirds showed no mercy.

The girls coasted to a 9-0 victory led by Kerri Callahan’s 507 series. Emma Dolan rolled a 435, and Grace Pizzardi and Chloe Horstmann each laid a series over 400.

The victory at this meet proved to be a necessity, as they now look forward to closing out the regular season on a 6 game win streak with their Senior Day Game against St. Mary’s.

Head Coach, Miss Frisina, emphasized the pride she takes in the development of the bowlers. “The season has shown tremendous growth amongst the athletes on our team and each young lady keeps improving on their skills. I am looking forward to a successful playoff season as well as successful seasons to come as our young team continues to grow.”

Kellenberg’s bowling program is stronger than it has ever been, with the success of the girls team at the forefront of what is only the beginning of something special.
