The new Student Life Center hosted an event through Kellenberg’s Aquinas League with students and faculty from the Viscardi School in Albertson, NY. The Viscardi School is notorious for its accommodations of students with disabilities when home districts and nursing stations are inadequate alternatives. Mr. Joseph Slaninka, as well as two other students, spoke on behalf of their school as “Viscardi Ambassadors” to continue their long-time practice of “Disabilities Awareness Days.” It is part of the Viscardi School’s mission to break down barriers surrounding the mentally and physically handicapped, while simultaneously encouraging acceptance.
Mr. Ruhl commented “I’m happy to say that between in person and virtual, we had nearly 50 students at today’s Aquinas League meeting with the Viscardi Ambassadors.”
The presentation concluded with a brief Q&A session.
Kellenberg’s Student Life Center continues to present opportunities for students to grow in their understandings of themselves and their relationships with others.
