By Sophia Paulich, ’24:

On Wednesday, March 3rd and Thursday, March 4th, Kellenberg gave every student the opportunity to take part in the sacrament of Reconciliation. Several priests from various parishes throughout Long Island generously gave their time to assist with this important event. Students were welcome to go to the auditorium to receive Reconciliation during their religion class.

The priests were stationed throughout the auditorium, giving every student the chance to confess their sins. Christ was present in each priest as they heard confessions from every student. Alisa Tarasovskya ‘24 said, “It is nice that Kellenberg offers us the opportunity to go to confession because it builds our relationship with God.”

Reconciliation is an important part of the Catholic faith. It demonstrates that God will forgive, no matter how serious the sins may be. Going to confession at the beginning of Lent aids in preparing for the death and resurrection of Christ as it “wipes us clean” of all of the imperfections and sins that have been committed.

A sense of peace and serenity emanated throughout the halls during the course of both days. The sins that tempted us in the past, limiting the relationship with God, were replaced by God’s infinite grace.
