LK 16:19-31
In this gospel, it shows how it is essential to have complete faith in God. The rich man did not believe in Moses and the prophets during his lifetime. Once the rich man died, he realized that he shouldn’t have been so materialistic; he had become blind when it came to his faith life. Lazarus endured a life of suffering while the rich man lived luxuriously. In the afterlife, the roles were reversed. The rich repents in hell and asks Abraham for a chance to warn his brothers. Surely, they would believe a man who came back from the dead. When Abraham replies saying “If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead”. He is revealing that everyone is given a chance to have faith and live like God wants, but some turn their cheeks away from God and suffer the consequences in after death.
